It is with sadness that I admit defeat - it doesn't look like our AC Buckland is going to make it to the Thatcham Classic show this year. It's a shame, but quite frankly, the car just isn't in a fit state to be put into the public eye just yet and...

Martin, Sorry it has taken so long to reply to the question but 'Uncle Alfred' my AC was not in a fit state to be photographed. I have attached two photos showing that the restoration has progressed to the stage that he is begining to look like a...

The engine transplant is still underway - holidays, previously undiscovered faults and getting certain parts have all added to the magic of the project! I did get the car to Goodwood but with the Triumph engine in it; may get to the ACOC sprint at...

WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE AC BUCKLAND PROJECT

Three years ago, we embarked on a long restoration of a 1953 AC Buckland, registration PAR 419. This website tells the history of our car and documents the process of slowly getting her back on the road. Regular updates can be found on the BLOG postings below and comments are welcome on what we are doing.

    NO AC FOR THATCHAM

It is with sadness that I admit defeat - it doesn't look like our AC Buckland is going to make it to the Thatcham Classic show this year. It's a shame, but quite frankly, the car just isn't in a fit state to be put into the public eye just yet and I think it is better to carry on working towards a suitable debut rather than not be happy with it. Apologies if anyone was planning on coming to see the car, but if any of you have ever carried out a restoration, I hope you will understand. There's al… Continue

    My photo

I have just accessed the site, having been told about it by my sister, Pat Cudby, nee Day.

Imagine my surprise to realise that the photo at the top of the PAR 419 Buckland is of me, aged 18 or 19 at Brands Hatch in my father's car. It was a sprint meeting and I put up best time of the day for the ladies but didn't win as they had a secret handicap that was the best time between practice and run! I had gone all out on the practice!

The car did, indeed, have three drivers: my father Harold Day,… Continue

    A LINK TO THE PAST

I have been aware for some time that first owner, Harold Day shared the competitive driving of PAR 419 with George Grigs - founding member of the AC Owners' Club. A chance conversation with the owner of a fabulous Jaguar Special built for Colonel Rixon Bucknall re-ignited a link between that and the Buckland. George was the Colonel's passenger on his 'shakedown' trip to the Alps and took some fantastic pictures ( http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=140&t=686153&i=220&m… Continue

    A BUCKLAND AT GOODWOOD?

An email from ACOC Librarian (and member of this site), John Spencer, suggests that there is possible evidence of PAR 419 being the first AC to compete at Goodwood in the hands of first owner, Harold Day. Interesting news, but much confirmation is needed before we can get too excited! Will it turn out to be fact? I hope so - that would be a fantastic addition to the already bulging history file on our Buckland! Thanks John...

    V5 AT LAST!

Finally, and with the help of various people including the AC Owners' Club, we have been granted a new V5 and the registration plate PAR 419. That means that the Buckland can continue to wear the original number. Of course, we're a long way off from taxing it(!), but it's another small part of the history retained for the future. Phew!
